We've been there a couple of times and like the decor. However we went there last night with a group of friends from out of town and it started off with horrible service. It's almost like the local MacDonalds is loosing staff. We ordered drinks, including a dry Gin martini (would you like that straight up or on the rocks?), a vodka and cranberry with no ice (can you take this back and take the ice out?) and a 'can we get some water as well please? (3 times). Between the 5 of us we ordered three NY Strips, a prime rib and a rack of lamb. The food, as has been in the past, was very good. Having to call the server back for the potato toppings was a pain, and dropping off a filthy condiment bottle of mint sauce for the lamb was a bit tacky considering the price of the meal. So, the short recap - food=good, service=poor. At the end of the meal, mainly due to the lacklustre service, we went elsewhere for dessert. There are no shortage of good restaurants to enjoy a steak in the city, so service really is important and in some cases the only thing that the restaurants have to differenciate themselves from their neighbors. Cattlebarons will loose business when the next great place opens across the street. Heck, there is a Mr Schnaps across MacLeod Tr that has very good steaks, has pretty good service, *and* puts their condiments into clean containers, all while keeping the cost reasonable.
